Washington Mutual closes more than half of hypothec crediting offices
18 December 2007Savings bank Washington Mutual Inc - the largest savings bank in the United States -closes more than half of offices on granting hypothec credits. Reduction will concern 190 of 336 offices, and also 22 % of stuff, working with hypothec credits.
Besides for struggle against consequences of hypothec crediting crisis the company will close broker division Washington Mutual Capital and in IV quarter 2007 plans to lower dividends up to 0,15 dollars per share in comparison with 0,56 dollars for the share, paid in III quarter. The bank is also going to involve the additional capital at the rate of 2,5 billion dollars
Within the 9 months of 2007 net profit of Washington Mutual has decreased on 27 % - up to 1,83 billion dollars against 2,5 billion dollars, received for the similar period, of the last year. The cumulative size of actives has decreased on 0,5 % - since 348,88 billion dollars up to 330,11 billion dollars. During the III quarter of this year the parameter of net profit of bank has decreased on 72 % - up to 210 million dollars in comparison with 748 million dollars year earlier. The cumulative size of actives has decreased on 0,7 % - since 347,31 billion dollars up to 322,75 billion dollars.
