Houses for poor will be taken down in New Orleans

By means of anonymous voting The city council of New Orleans has made a decision about destruction of several houses with 4,5 thousand apartments for needy.
When session of council began, police had to use tear gas in order to dispersal of demonstration.
40 pedestrian and ten horse policemen came against seventy protesting, tried to rush into a building of local administration. At least, one person from among demonstrators has been hospitalized and some more have been arrested.
Opponents prove that officials from city administration want to please to builders. Protesting are assured that new houses will not have enough of apartments for needy and many poor families will have to move to suburb.
City officials blame the housing policy of former administration of New Orleans for all their troubles. In present authorities’ opinion, it has lead to unpleasant situation: poor areas with criminal situation have formed in the city.
