US FRS has lowered discount rate up to 2,25 %

US Federal Reserve System, carrying out in the country of function of the Central bank, has lowered a discount rate on 0,75 percentage items – up to 2,25 %. Such data has been given in FRS’ report published today.
Analysts assumed, that the rate will be lowered on 0,5 percentage items or even on 1 percentage item.
On the eve at emergency meeting FRS has lowered the rate under primary credits for 0,25 percentage items – up to 3,25 %, having reduced, thus, a difference between this rate and the rate of federal funds (a base discount rate) up to 0,25 percentage items.
This decision specifies sharp liquidity deficiency in the American bank system as before the difference between the rate under primary credits and the rate of federal funds stably made 0,5 percentage items.
Let’s remind, on January, 30th, FRS has lowered discount rate on 0,5 percentage items – up to 3 %, and on January, 21st, 2008, – on 0,75 percentage items – up to 3,75 %, on October, 31st, 2007, – on 0,25 percentage items, up to 4,5 %, with the purpose of stabilization situation in the credit markets and prevention of American economy recession.
