Research:no middle class without worthy habitation
23 March 2008Russian center of public opinion studying has submitted data on the one whom of Russians it is possible to regard as middle class and how many Russians can be considered as representatives of this social formation.
In general Russians regard middle class as people with the stable income, the worthy salary (so consider 22 % interrogated); businessmen (19 %), state employees (13 %); those, who have their apartment, car, summer residence, and the opportunity to travel (11 %).
Less often doctors (5 %); teachers (4 %); politicians, deputies, officials (4 %); bankers; scientists, engineers (on 2 %), etc are considered as middle class representatives. More than thirds of respondents (37 %) can’t name categories of citizens, which could be carried to middle class.
Among the attributes typical for representatives of middle class, the majority interrogated (75-77 %) mark presence of the worthy income - not low, but not too high, and also worthy habitation.
The part of respondents brings the conditions, allowing feeling confidence of the future, presence of savings (41 %), confidence of tomorrow, of the provided old age (37 %) to the mentioned above category.
Presence of own business to the important attributes of middle class accessory is considered by 19 % interrogated. Other attributes are marked less often.
By different criteria from 18 % up to 42 % of respondents could be regarded as middle class.
