Seven architectural wonders of the world
27 March 2008Magazine Conde Nast Traveler has published the list of Seven new wonders of the world of architecture. The Russian constructions have not entered into the “star” list.
Thus, informs, according to Conde Nast Traveler’s version, the most significant monuments of architecture in the world are:
1. Kogod Courtyard, Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C., which represents curved roof of glass and steel above shallow pools in the courtyard of the Old Patent Office Building.
2. Red Ribbon, Tanghe River Park, in Qinhuangdao, China -it is a steel bench, which runs one-third of mile through the riverbank garden and oasis.
3. The Crystal, a new entrance and exhibit space at Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum.
4. London’s new Wembley Stadium, which seats 90,000. As it has become known, this stadium will be the showpiece of the 2012 Olympics.
5. New Museum of Contemporary Art, designed to resemble an off-kilter stack of silvery rectangles, on the Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
6. Cumulus, an exhibit hall at Danfoss Universe, a science and technology museum in Nordborg, Denmark.
7. Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest building, which is being contructed in the Middle East and now it is more than 1,700 feet high.
